Seminyak Shopping: Supermarkets and Convenience Stores

Bintang Supermarket

Originally posted on: My Seminyak Villas

Staying in a villa gives you the fantastic option of staying in and cooking for yourself if you just can’t face venturing out into the world; in fact, a nip to the local supermarket or convenience store and you can enjoy the luxury of your private villa without ever having to leave again! To make it even easier for you we’ve listed the best supermarkets in Seminyak, which stock everything from sun cream to sirloin steak.

Bintang Supermarket

Bintang Supermarket is right in the heart of Seminyak and sells local and imported foods, including fresh fruit and veg, tinned products and frozen meats and fish – basically everything you’ll need at an affordable price. Bintang also has a small shop at the back selling wines and spirits, a swimwear section, and a home department on the second floor, which stocks sunglasses, stationery and household items including pots and pans, adaptors and bottle openers.

How to pay: Payment shouldn’t be a problem at Bintang – there are ATM machines at the front of the store, or you can pay by credit card or use the trusted money exchange just across the road.

Address: Jalan Raya Seminyak 17, Seminyak.

Open daily: 8am – 10pm

Bali Deli

Bali Deli is a little pricey, as its stock mostly consists of imported food and wines, but the quality is top notch. We particularly love this gourmet supermarket for its fresh fruit and vegetables and bakery, which sells some absolutely delicious cakes and fresh breads.

How to pay: There is one ATM machine at the front of the store and you can also pay by card.

Address: Jalan Kunti (next to the petrol station), Seminyak.

Open daily: 7am – 10pm

Just like the huge shopping centres and hypermarkets you’re probably familiar with from home, Carrefour has everything you need. There are four floors of boutique shops, salons and cafes, and the massive, main shopping area, where you can buy electrical items, household equipment, clothes, food and drinks, is on the top floor. Carrefour stocks both imported and local food, so you can choose the price point that suits you.

How to pay: There are multiple ATM machines at Carrefour or you can pay by card.

Address: Jalan Sunset Road, Bali.

Open: Mon – Sat: 8am – 9pm Mon – Sat

You’ll find Pepito’s dotted all over the place, some are 24 hours. Here you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables and meats and a few toiletries and medicines. Always handy to grab a few bits if you don’t want to bother with a supermarket!

How to pay: There is one ATM machine at the front of the store and you can also pay by card.

Address: Jalan Petitenget, Seminyak.

Open daily: 8am – 11pm

We also offer our concierge service: just let us know what you need and a member of our team will get the shopping and deliver to your door 🙂

Naughty Nuris

Seminyak is home to so many amazing restaurants, it can be a time-consuming task trying to decide where to dine. From haute cuisine to street stalls, there’s sure to be something to suit your taste. Of course, if you’re after something in between, there are plenty of mid-range options too; here are our top picks of Seminyak’s best restaurants that cater for all!

Naughty Nuris Warung

Famous for its wicked ribs and brutal martinis, Naughty Nuris Warung is a fun and lively place to eat. The dining area, known as the ‘pig pen,’ is decorated with all sizes of colourful, funky pigs, which certainly do their job of attracting tourists morning, noon and night. Beware, though – because of the venue’s huge popularity, you will more than likely have to queue up for 10 – 15 minutes. (Don’t worry, it’ll be worth it, we promise!) Overall, Naughty Nuris might be a little pricey, but, for the amazing, drool-inducing experience, it’s a must visit for first-time visitors to Seminyak.

Address: Jalan Batubelig, 41 Kerobokan Kelod, Seminyak.

Tel: +62 (0)361 847 6722

Taco Casa

At Taco Casa, expect fresh Mexican food in a relaxed and casual setting – everything from the taco shells to the salad relish and guacamole is homemade, delicious and great value for money! If you’re after fast and friendly service and a chilled out vibe, Taco Casa is our top pick every time.

Address: Jalan Petitenget, Seminyak.

Rumours Restaurant

Rumours has always been known for its delicious steaks at very affordable prices, but that’s not all they offer anymore. Last year, the popular venue decided to branch out and upgrade, adding a wide selection of pastas, pizzas and freshly baked bread to their already excellent menu. We definitely recommend dropping in to this fun, family-friendly restaurant and checking out some of the new dishes.

Prices: Main dish IDR 80,000 – 100,000

Address: Jalan Laksmana 100 Oberoi, Seminyak.

Tel: +62 (0)361 738 721

Ultimo Italian Restaurant

Ultimo really does get a thumbs up from us when it comes to affordability. Here, you can enjoy a fine dining experience in a real, down-to-earth Italian restaurant. OK, the wine list is huge and does bump up the bill a bit, but when authentic Italian food is at such an great price, surely you can afford the luxury of a glass of fine wine to complement your dish 🙂

Prices: Special dishes menu IDR 150,000 – 250,000

Address: Jalan Laksmana 104 Oberoi, Seminyak.

Tel: +62 (0)361 738 720

Queen’s Tandoor

Multiple award winning Queens Tandoor is well known in Seminyak for its mouthwatering Indian cuisine and excellent home delivery service. And, with its fresh, tasty food and very reasonable prices, we particularly recommend it for large groups and families. In the restaurant you’ll have a choice between the bar, an indoor air-conditioned dining area, an alfresco terrace, and a private air-conditioned function room, but, whichever you choose, the sensory journey into the taste, spirit and culture of Indian cuisine is guaranteed to have you coming back for more!

Best Seminyak Beach Bars

Originally posted on: My Seminyak Villas

La Plancha

Like a lot of beaches in Bali, Seminyak’s long stretch of sand plays host to its fair share of local traders, selling almost everything you can imagine – from fruits and shells to massages, manicures and hair braiding, and even intricate wood carvings that we can’t imagine would fit in most suitcases!

Unlike in Kuta, though, where the traders often won’t take no for an answer, you’ll largely be left alone during the day on the more sophisticated Seminyak Beach, save the odd offer of a sunbed or an icy cold local beer. We advise you to take advantage of the relaxing vibe and spend at least a day or two sunbathing, swimming or learning to surf on Bali’s most famous beach.

If you walk along Seminyak Beach, heading from Seminyak towards Double Six Road, you’ll find that it merges into Legian Beach, where you won’t be able to miss the many colourful beach bars, complete with extremely comfy bean bags, that make this part of the beach one of the most popular in the Seminyak area.

At La Plancha, one of our favourites, the staff are super-friendly and the drinks are cheap. Grab a bean bag and chill out with a light snack as the day heads towards sunset. (We particularly recommend the burgers – you won’t find any tastier in Seminyak!)

  • Burger IDR 90,000
  • Heineken IDR 35,000

Crystal Palace Beach Hut is another great Seminyak hang-out. Why not get a little shade and grab a bite, or alternatively make the most of the bar’s brightly coloured beanbags for a sunset cocktail at happy hour 5pm – 8pm daily, with a live band from 7pm.

  • Bar snacks IDR 40,000 – 80,000
  • Cocktails start from IDR 75,000

One of the newest additions to Seminyak Beach is B9B – Blue 9 Beach – formerly known as Sandpit. The prices are affordable and you have the option to dine on Western or Indonesian food inside at the bar or plonk yourself down on a beanbag on the beach with a cocktail. We definitely recommend the latter, as B9B’s crazy cocktail list is one not to be missed. We won’t give too much away (and some of the names are too lewd to print on this blog!), but we definitely suggest you go and check it out for yourself.

  • Main dishes start from IDR 75,000
  • Cocktails start from IDR 65,000

Walk a little further down the beach and things start to get a bit more crowded with local beach traders selling cold beers and soft drinks from bright red cool boxes almost everywhere you look! They’ll also be happy to rent you a long bed and umbrella for the day (usually costing around 50,000 rupiah), sell you a surf lesson or just rent you a board for a small fee.

On this section of the beach, don’t forget to look out for Tobings Bar, where the staff are chatty and always smiling and a Bintang is only IDR 20,000 🙂

Mozaic Beach Club

Just over a year ago, Mozaic Beach Club introduced its smart casual dining concept to Batu Belig Beach, and we can’t get enough of it! The stunning 3,200 sqm beachfront restaurant, with views over the west coast of Bali, not only offers an exclusive à la carte menu with meat and seafood dishes, it was also recently awarded the Wine Spectator of Excellence, thanks to its enormous wine list, which includes wines both by the glass and by the bottle.

  • Wine by the glass IDR 150,000 – 250,000

Potato Head Beach Club

Potato Head Beach Club is well known for its hip and trendy parties, as well as serving some of Bali’s most amazing cocktails. And although it is pretty pricey, what’s a holiday without a little splurge? We recommend going all out at one of the most popular beach clubs on the island; spend the day lounging by the infinity pool, enjoy an afternoon snack from one of the venue’s three restaurants and finish the day off with sunset cocktails. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

  • Cocktails start from IDR 120,000

From Monday to Thursday, you’ll also be treated to complimentary tapas and Happy Hour drinks, while Friday is the day to take in the venue’s Sunset Sessions. Don’t worry if you can’t make it when there’s an event or a party scheduled, though; WooBar always provides a constant flow of chill-out music, perfectly complementing the flow of the waves out beyond Seminyak’s golden sands.

Address: W Resort & Spa Bali, Jalan Petitenget, Seminyak.

Tel: +62 (0)361 4738 106

Open: Sun to Thu: 10am – 1am & Fri & Sat: 10am – 2am

Ku De Ta, Bali

With its awesome vibe and spectacular view of the ocean, Ku De Ta is a must visit for tourists of all ages. Not only is it world renowned for its amazing parties (our favourites are the Bikini Day Party and the White Party, which both draw huge international crowds), it also serves cuisine that easily competes with the top fine dining restaurants on the island. Again, Ku De Ta will put a bit of a dent in your wallet, but it’s more than worth splashing out on visiting this beach club, bar and restaurant for the unparalleled cuisine, service and party vibe 🙂

Address: Jalan Laksman / Oberoi 9, Seminyak.

Tel: +62 (0)361 73 6969

Open: 8am – 12am daily

Cocoon Beach Club

Sip cocktails in your very own VIP cabana, or kick back on one of Cocoon Beach Club’s luxurious champagne beds, overlooking the infinity pool and gorgeous Seminyak beach. Or, if you prefer the sand under your toes, check out the fully serviced beachfront bales. And, if you’re in Seminyak on the last Sunday of the month, don’t miss out on ‘Splash’, the coolest pool party on the island!

  • Sunset cocktails 2 for 1 daily 5pm – 7pm
  • Cocktails IDR 120,000

Address: Jl. Double Six, Blue Ocean Boulevard, Seminyak.
